The Hub Basic Needs Center’s mission is to address the gaps and concerns students have with accessing nutritious food, stable housing, and financial wellness resources. They are committed to equitably minimizing basic needs challenges for all students.

If you have concerns with access to one or more Basic Needs resources, please complete a Basic Needs Assistance Form so that they can connect you with the resources you need.

Resources for Students:

Food Security

Food security refers to having reliable access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods, as well as the means to obtain and prepare them with dignity. UC San Diego supports food security for both undergraduate and graduate students by offering a range of food resources designed to meet diverse needs.

Housing Resources

The UC San Diego Basic Needs Off-Campus Housing Office recognizes that home is more than a physical space, it's a sense of stability and care. Through a variety of services and resources, the office supports students in navigating the housing search, achieving housing stability, and adjusting to off-campus living. If you're in need of emergency support, including stable housing, fill out the Basic Needs Assistance Form to schedule a housing consultation.

Financial Wellness

For Basic Needs Emergency Grants, students should first connect with the Financial Aid & Scholarship Office to explore all available funding options. If those options have been exhausted, you can complete the Basic Needs Assistance Form to receive personalized resource recommendations and the opportunity to meet with supportive staff.

Additional Assistance Forms

There are several additional student assistance forms available to help connect you with campus resources and support. These include the Basic Needs Assistance Form, which provides personalized resource recommendations and the option to meet with staff for a Basic Needs Consultation; the CalFresh Assistance Form, for questions about eligibility or help with your application; and the Personal Hygiene Form, which allows you to request needed items and schedule a pickup time at The Hub Basic Needs Center.
